The EFG Board, Members, and Office are pleased to welcome David Govoni as the new EFG President.

The election for the EFG’s new President-elect was held in November 2022 during the 81st Council Meeting in Brussels. The National Associations delegates cast their votes electronically and David Govoni from the Italian National Council of Geologists (CNG) was elected.

The start of the term of David Govoni as EFG President was official after the 82nd Council Meeting that took place in Belgrade on 20 and 21 May 2023.

David is a highly experienced geologist with over 20 years of international experience in the mining and quarrying sector. He has a diverse background in technical aspects, ranging from exploration to operations, as well as expertise in business development, permitting, and sustainability challenges, with a focus on the industrial minerals sector. David is a member of CNG and EurGeol (since 2012), and he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying (since 2011). Currently, he holds the position of Geology and Mining Manager at Unicalce Group, one of Italy’s leading companies in the industrial minerals sector. Furthermore, David has served as an expert for project evaluation for the European Commission and the European Institute of Technology – Raw Materials. He has held various leadership roles in numerous associations and technical committees, actively participating in the organization of national and international congresses, as well as training activities in different countries.
