Austrian Mining Association (Bergmännischer Verband Österreich (BVÖ)
The Austrian Mining Association was founded in 1950 as a private association of mining graduates of the Montanuniversität Leoben. Today the association is open to all persons and companies of the mineral raw materials industry, research and authorities. At the moment we have professional members, students and retired members as well as member companies. In total there are over 1000 members. Our objective is to promote the purpose of the Austrian mining sciences and its related industries in scientific, technical and economic fields in a non-profit manner. To achieve these goals we promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge by personal contacts of the members, we organize congresses and excursions and we are publishing a scientific journal (Berg- und Hüttenmännische Monatshefte). Important contributions to achieving the goals are made by the working groups and technical committees which are: open pit and quarry technology, underground mining, mineral processing, mine surveying, mineral deposit research and the students' section.
