The GEOSCIENCES 2026 Scientific Conference will take place on 10–11 December 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria, bringing together members of the geological community for two days of scientific exchange and discussion. The conference is organised by the Bulgarian Geological Society together with Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and several leading Bulgarian geological and academic institutions.
This year’s conference is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Academician Georgi Bonchev (1866–1955), one of the founders of mineralogy and petrography in Bulgaria and the first president of the Bulgarian Geological Society.
The scientific programme will cover a broad range of geoscience disciplines, including mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology, regional geology and geophysics, mineral and energy resources, environmental geology and natural hazards, hydrogeology, geomorphology, geological heritage and geoarchaeology.
The organisers particularly encourage the participation of young researchers, postgraduate and graduate students, with awards foreseen for the best presentations by young participants. Conference materials will be published in the Review of the Bulgarian Geological Society.
