Open invite for volunteers

Would you like to get involved in EFG’s activities?

We propose several volunteer activities which offer you the opportunity to become part of our vibrant and dynamic international network of geoscience professionals gathering people interested in geology and sustainable development at a large.

Volunteering is a valuable way to share your knowledge and skills with others, increase your networking, stay tuned on the latest professional developments in the field of geology, and receive special access to some of our activities.

Our volunteer opportunities are open to all those who are interested in geology and would like to bring in their professional excellence.

Outreach:

EFGeoBlog contributors

Our EFGeoBlog welcomes guest posts on recent research or professional developments in the field of geosciences. Posts may include reports from geosciences events, information on publications and relevant EU policy developments. As one of EFG’s main missions is to create public awareness of the importance of geoscience for society, we are particularly interested in best practice reports about outreach initiatives which could inspire other societies.

Find all information on how to contribute in our guidelines. We look forward to receiving your contribution!

GeoImpact: Experts in strategic marketing, media relations and public affairs

EFG is keen to boost the impact of its communication materials and is therefore seeking advise from volunteer experts in strategic marketing, media relations and public affairs. Would you like to learn more on how to contribute to this endeavour? Email your CV to volunteers@eurogeologists.eu.

Instagrammers

Do you love science comms and would like to show others how diverse and fascinating the geological profession is? We invite you to take over EFG’s Instagram account for one week! We aim at showcasing the great variety of working environments geologists benefit from and encourage you to share impressions from your day-to-day work. We are confident this post series will result in an inspiring collection of work portraits and role models!

Are you interested? Please email volunteers@eurogeologists.eu, tell us in which branch of geology you work and when you are available for this science comms challenge!

Language translators & proof readers

Are you an early-career professional and would like to obtain insights into the work of an international not-for-profit association? EFG currently has an open invite for language translators for all European languages represented within our association. We are also looking for geologists who are (near) native English speakers interested in gaining experience in language editing.

EFG is an NGO representing professional geological organisations across Europe and aims at raising public awareness of the importance of geoscience for society. To strengthen the bonds with our members at national level and facilitate the dialogue with policy makers and the public, we would like to establish a network of volunteer translators and proof readers.

What can we offer?

  • Be part of an international network of early career professionals who share an interest in geology and sustainability issues
  • Opportunity to demonstrate your professional excellence and understanding of deeply technical topics in geoscience
  • Discover how an international NGO works
  • Acquire professional experience that you can add to your CV
  • A certificate recognising your work

Some examples of translation and proofreading tasks:

Translation of brochures, posters, press releases, event announcements, web pages, video subtitles, blogs, white papers, articles, etc.

Interested in learning more?

Please send your CV, your area of geological expertise and your mother tongue to volunteers@eurogeologists.eu. We will get back to you very soon!
