The full-day conference showcased the results achieved by the project, such as the KINDRA Classification, the Inventory, as well as the methodology used for identifying gap analyses and its results, and started a conversation aboutthe future of the KINDRA outcomes with stakeholders and decision-makers to identify a roadmap for developing policies, strategies, and management options at European level related to groundwater.

Mr. Johan Stierna, Ms. Elisa Vargas and Ms. Isabel Fernandez during the opening session of the conference.

The conference took place the 27th of February, 2018 in the Académie Royale of Brussels. There were participants from 16 different European countries. During the conference, the consortium presented the major outcomes of KINDRA during the last three years and gathered feedback for the afterlife of the EU funded period.

The conference was open by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) Executive Director Ms. Isabel Fernandez. She welcomed the participants and presented EFG. Ms. Fernandez recalled the motivations that led to the design of the KINDRA project and the need felt by geologists to get more attention on the groundwater issue at European level and the lack of European ability to share groundwater knowledge existing in the various EU countries. She also explained the role of the different partners in the project. Twenty EFG national associations collaborated in the project, as linked third parties, being responsible for uploading data and disseminating the achievements of the project.
