Seequent Webinar: Making Tailings Storage Facilities Safer – The Critical Role of the Geologist

Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) are among the most critical geotechnical structures in the mining sector, and their safety relies heavily on strong geological understanding.
As part of the strategic collaboration between the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and Seequent, this free webinar will explore the critical role geologists play in improving tailings management and supporting safer mining practices.
The session will examine current challenges in TSF management, including subsurface uncertainty, evolving tailings properties, and the integration of geological and geotechnical analysis. Participants will also gain insights into how integrated digital workflows, subsurface data interpretation, and 3D geological modelling can strengthen collaboration between geologists and engineers while supporting more informed and accountable decision-making.
The webinar will be led by Khaled Zahran, a geotechnical and tailings specialist at Seequent with international experience in tailings dams, civil infrastructure, and ground improvement projects.
Date: 10 June 2026
Time: 14:30–15:00 CEST
European Geologist (EurGeol) title holders can obtain 0.25 CPD points under the category of informal learning/training category by attending the full webinar.
