European High Level Conference on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

5th September 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Building on the growing recognition for the necessity of increased climate action and the emerging momentum for low carbon emission technologies in Europe, such as CCS, this European high-level conference should bring together European Ministers and CEO’s from key European industry and energy companies. The conference will be hosted by Kjell-Børge Freiberg, Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy and Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy.

The conference should assess the role of CCS in the EU’s strategic long-term vision for a climate neutral economy in Europe and seek to deliver an outcome that will contribute to accelerated deployment of CCS in Europe. It should highlight the urgent need to develop early CCS-projects in order to facilitate for a wide deployment of CCS. The conference will focus on Europe, and more specifically, on the role of CCS in the EU’s strategic long-term vision, but will draw upon experiences from other countries with relevant CCS activities.
