AVOIDING A MINING INVESTOR’S WORST NIGHTMARE: Making wise choices where people & uncertainty meet in Mineral Exploration

23rd November 2018

EFG Endorsement Programme

The world of mineral exploration is a profession that confronts hazard on a daily basis: From individual harm to monetary, reputational or physical damage to the very existence of organisations. Equally, it is a sector where innovation, courage and sheer technical effort, creativity and the ability to tell a great story can bring rewards matched by very few others. The difference is in the choices people make. So, how should they best prepare themselves?

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN FROM ATTENDING

- A greater understanding of why some mining exploration programmes fail before they even start
- A tried & tested pathway to verifiably smarter decisions in mining exploration projects
- Insight into technical & managerial competencies to look out for before committing investment
- Awareness of how human factors shape each & every choice you make on a mining project
- Strategies for addressing deficiencies & raising performance in your & others’ decision-making

After attending this workshop, you should be able to:
- Identify key aspects that make a good management and technical team
- Understand principal geo-technical milestones that each project needs to pass
- Identify key technical risks leading to an over evaluation of exploration or mining projects
- Describe the leading decision quality workstream & make practical use of its methodology
- Assess the role of various cultural factors in a decision-making process & evaluate their importance
