EFG visits the Croatian Geological Society
The first in-person steering committee meeting of the TIMREX project took place in the first week of October. This EIT Raw Materials funded project aims at developing a Master’s programme to train T-shaped professionals who will meet the EU’s demand for mineral resource exploration.
Having the opportunity of being there, our project officer Alberto Sanchez visited the facilities of the Croatian Geological Society (CGS), EFG’s Croatian member association.
The CGS is based in the outskirts of Zagreb, sharing the facilities with the Croatian Geological Institute, the largest research institute in geosciences in Croatia.
Alberto had the chance to meet the President of the CGS, Slobodan Miko, Secretary Nikolina Ilijanić, and Staša Borović.
The four of them had a conversation about their profession, EU perspectives, and interesting aspects of the geology of Croatia. Afterwards Nikolina offered a tour of the institute’s labs where they perform the geochemical tests needed for their research and surveys.
Finally, Nikolina, Staša and Alberto could continue the conversation during a typical Croatian lunch in a local restaurant nearby.
EFG acknowledges the hospitality of our Croatian association – it was a pleasure to meet you in person!
EFG also reinforces its commitment to keeping a close relationship with its National Associations and visit them more often.
