EFG endorses the launch of the European Raw Materials Alliance

Earlier in September, the European Commission announced the launch of a new industry alliance relating to raw materials. The aim of the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) will be to secure access to raw materials critical for the digital and energy transition. This new Alliance is part of a broader EU Action Plan on Critical Raw Materials and will be managed by EIT RawMaterials. The official launch event took place on 29 September 2020 at the occasion of the EIT RawMaterials Summit.

The European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and its Panel of Experts on Minerals endorse the launch of the European Raw Materials Alliance. The Federation expresses its support to the Alliance’s mission to help diversify European sources of raw materials supply and to develop our indigenous raw material resources in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and in compliance with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards. To that end, EFG encourages ERMA to avail of its expertise in matters relating to mineral raw materials and their availability.
