In January 2025, the European Commission launched a call for evidence on the planned Single Market Strategy. This consultation aimed to assess the functioning of the Single Market, focusing on:

  • Barriers to the free movement of goods and services and possible solutions;
  • Regulatory and administrative challenges, along with potential policy actions;
  • Governance and enforcement of Single Market rules, and ways to enhance them.

This initiative provided the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) with an opportunity to highlight the mobility challenges geologists face within the Single Market, despite their crucial contributions to sustainable development, EU competitiveness, and UN goals. Additionally, EFG proposed specific measures to overcome these barriers, ensuring geologists can fully contribute to Europe’s strategic objectives.
