IGSC 2020: Join students from around the world to exchange on “Applied Geosciences in a Modern Society – Acting Responsible for a Sustainable Future”

The International Student Geosciences Conference (IGSC) is organised by students for fellow geosciences students from around the globe. The IGSC 2020 will take place in Aachen, in the heart of Europe, from July 5–10, 2020, and will be the 9^th edition of this conference.

Since its conception in 2010 in Bucharest, the IGSC has been organised in various countries and by several students of different nationalities. Uppsala, Sweden, was the home of the 2019 event and is where the IGSC 2020 journey began. This year, we focus on four geoscientific themes revolving around the main topic “Applied Geosciences in a Modern Society – Acting Responsible for a Sustainable Future”. One day each of the IGSC 2020 will be dedicated to Geothermal Energy, Environmental Geosciences, Engineering Geology, and Mineral Resources.

The IGSC’s mission is to provide fellow students with a setting where they can present their research work to peers and interact and exchange ideas with fellow students, scientists from different universities, and industry and association representatives from around the globe. In addition, we provide workshops on science communication and other geoscientific hard and soft skills. The scientific programme is complemented by several social events: field trips in the Aachen area, the IGSC 2020 geolympics, and an amazing farewell party.

Early Bird registration (25 € for students, 60 € for non-students for the whole conference week) is open until March 31; Abstract Submission is open until March 15.
