FORAM closing meeting

On 29 October, members of the FORAM project consortium have gathered in Brussels for the project’s closing meeting.

The project Towards a World Forum on Raw Materials (FORAM) aims at developing and setting up an EU-based platform of international experts and stakeholders that will advance the idea of a World Forum on Raw Materials and enhance the international cooperation on raw material policies and investments.

During the closing meeting, the project’s Work Package leaders have presented the main outcomes and achievements of their work packages. Each presentation was followed by a discussion-round with the project’s EU officer who reviews the activities of the project carried out in the second reporting period. During open sessions, all consortium partners were involved in discussions about the achievements, challenges and the future plans and commitments of the FORAM project.

EU Project Officer Jonas Hedberg welcomes the participants at the project’s closing meeting and final review.

EFG Executive Director Isabel Fernández, present in the room, and EFG President Vitor Correia (online) have presented Work Package 3 on Strategic Planning which is led by EFG. The main objectives of this Work Package are to set a long-term vision and focus areas for improved cooperation in the field of mineral raw materials; identify and secure the strategic assets and capabilities for inclusive action; and contribute to the alignment of the EU minerals’ diplomacy efforts.

The project will officially end on 31 October 2018, but the consortium is discussing actively how to enhance international cooperation in the field of raw materials in the future.
