Content and objectives of the course:

The main objectives are to address Automatic Monitoring Systems, within the scope of geotechnical risk management, and to provide trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop automatic instrumentation plans and implement instrumentation systems. This course is aimed at professionals in the area of geology, geological engineering, mining engineering and civil engineering, recent graduates or with some professional experience who may not have had contact with this area of activity or who wish to recycle the concepts previously acquired.

You can find further information and get registered on the APG webpage: http://bit.ly/3kPCbyk

Please note that the course will be held in Portuguese.

1 – Definitions and general concepts (1h30)
• Instrumentation and monitoring for geotechnical risk management;
• Concepts – risk management (risk identification, risk management, risk mitigation), observational method, instrumentation, monitoring, information circuit, contingency measures, maintenance, intervention;
• Principles of an instrumentation plan (selection of equipment type, equipment quantities, frequency of readings, warning and alarm levels, contingency measures)
• Linear works (railwaylines and highways) including slopes, embankments, viaducts and tunnels
