On 13-14 March 2020, the PERC Reporting Standard Course will be organised by the Estonian Geological Society in the Tallinn University of Technology.
This course provides an introduction to the principles underlying the reporting codes and standards with particular reference to the PERC Reporting Standard 2017. The main focus of the course is on the role and responsibilities of the Competent Person when preparing assessments and reports in compliance with the PERC Reporting Standard 2017.
The full course is designed for those who are acting as Competent or Qualified Persons (CPs/QPs) with respect to Public Reports of Exploration Data, Mineral Resources or Mineral Reserves, and also for those who are working towards becoming CPs or QPs for such Reports.
The first day of the course would be suitable for those with a more general interest in international reporting on mineral assets, including people involved in management of mining companies and consultancies, financial advisors and investors.
Content:
Day 1 (9:00 – 17:30):
• History and characteristics of the regulatory framework
• Overview of the PERC Reporting Standard 2017
• National Reporting Organisations (NROs) and Professional Organisations
• Specific roles and responsibilities of the Competent Person
• Public Reports – Report types, consent, liability and supporting information
• Using Table 1 (PERC Standard) for Risk and Uncertainty assessment
Day 2 (9:00 – 13:30):
• Practical usage of Table 1 to support assessment and reporting
• General project considerations (Basis for project)
• Sampling Data and Techniques (Basis for assessment)
• Geological Interpretation and Resource Estimation (Basis for engineering
design)
• Application of the Modifying factors (Basis for economic assessment)
The course will be presented by Dr. Edmund Sides (PERC Secretary), a geologist with over 30 years of experience in mineral exploration and resource estimation. For the past 15 years he has been working as a mining industry consultants and has considerable experience in working with PERC and other international reporting standards.
