General description:
The course is a comprehensive introduction to Machine learning technology in the mining industry, which will last 4 hours and run over two days. The workshop will encompass the theory of machine learning, exploring the concepts and uses of the technology. This will include a practical exercise, where participants will learn to produce a basic model and learn to interpret machine learning data.
Course (4 hours):
• Theory (Antoine) (1 hour)
• Case studies (2 hours):
– Prospectivity mapping 2D (Antoine) (15 minutes)
– Alteration mapping using satellite imagery (Adrian) (15 minutes)
– Logging with text classification (Adrian) (15 minutes)
– Domain modelling using time series (Adrian) (15 minutes)
– Resource classification clustering (Antoine) (15 minutes)
– Pebbles classification CNN (Adrian) (25 minutes)
– Vein classification CNN (Antoine) (15 minutes)
– GAN for geophysical (Antoine) (5 minutes)
• Exercise (1 hour):
– Basalt-rhyolite supervise Classification- Adrian (1 hour)
Objectives:
In completion of the course, participants will have the foundational understating of machine learning which can then be further developed to allow for the technology to be utilised.
This course aims at university student and industry professionals.
