Broad EFG representation at UNECE Resource Management Week

 

The last edition of the UNECE Resource Management Week was held from 29 April to 3 May 2019 in Geneva and included the 10th Session of the Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM). Several representatives of the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) attended the session on resource management, including among others Vice-President Michael Neumann (as Vice-Chair of the EGRM and Chair of the Minerals Working Group), President Vitor Correia (as Chair of the Competent Person Working Group), and Olaf Klarner, the coordinator of the EFG Panel of Experts on Oil and Gas.

In addition, Marko Petitta, the coordinator of EFG’s Panel of Experts on Hydrogeology, was nominated as the Chair of the EGRM Water Working Group which was created during the meeting and Johann Gotsis, who is a member of EFG’s German national association BDG, was appointed as new Chair of the Minerals Working Group.

Besides this broad representation during the annual event, EFG was also actively involved in the organisation of a workshop on “UNFC and UNRMS: Tools for Managing Resources for Sustainable Development” where Michael Neumann delivered a presentation on the “UNFC application to minerals”.
