At its 88th Council Meeting, held in Milos, Greece, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) elected Christian Masurenko (BDG) as its new Vice-President.
Christian Masurenko is a European Geologist title holder (EurGeol #641) and a senior geologist and mining executive with more than 25 years of international experience spanning exploration, mining, ESG, and responsible resource management. He has led multi-billion USD mining and infrastructure projects across Africa, Europe, and South America, serving in executive roles as CEO, project manager, and strategic advisor. His areas of expertise encompass critical raw materials, feasibility studies, environmental and social governance, community relations, and sustainable supply chains. He is qualified to act as a Competent Person under JORC, NI43-101, and PERC standards.
Within the professional geosciences community, Christian has served as a member of the EFG Regulation Authority and currently chairs the Geoethics & International Cooperation Forum of EFG’s German member, the BDG, as well as representing BDG on the PERC committee. Beyond his professional activities, he is actively engaged in mentoring, business development within professional associations, and voluntary community work, guided throughout by a commitment to fair, responsible, and transparent resource development.
The EFG Board and Secretariat warmly congratulate Christian on his election and look forward to his contribution to the Federation’s leadership as it continues to implement the 2023–2027 EFG Strategy.
The Council also confirmed the renewal of mandates for Secretary General Magnus Johansson and Treasurer Pablo Núñez Fernández. The EFG extends its sincere gratitude to outgoing Vice-President Iris Vukovic of the Serbian Geological Society for six years of dedicated service.
