The International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG) and the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) have signed on 12 December 2014 a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to collaborate on issues of common interest.

The International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG) is a multidisciplinary, scientific platform for widening the debate on problems of Ethics applied to the Geosciences.

EFG and IAPG shall collaborate in defining ethical problems, also through case-studies, affecting professional geologists, and in promoting geoethical principles and best practices in geosciences among their networks.

In particular, the EFG shall:

  • Promote IAPG’s initiatives and events on themes of common interest through its webpages and publications.
  • Recognize IAPG as a partner for ethical and social issues in geosciences.
  • Promote collaborations in projects when geoethics themes are dealt with.
  • Involve IAPG in EFG’s publications and in participations at EFG’s meetings that deal with themes related to Geoethics.

The IAPG shall:

  • Promote EFG’s initiatives and events on themes of common interest through its webpages and publications.
  • Promote the EurGeol Title to its European members by using existing communications channel.
  • Support EFG on issues related to ethical and social implications of geosciences.
  • Promote collaborations in projects on themes of common interest.
  • Involve EFG in IAPG’s publications and in participations at scientific meetings/congresses on Geoethics organized by IAPG.
