Executive Director Isabel Fernandez and Vice-President Michael Neumann are representing EFG in the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Resource Classification Week held in Geneva (Switzerland) this week, from 24 to 28 April 2017.

More than 200 experts from 60 countries representing all continents attend this year’s edition of the “Resource Classification Week: On the verge of transformative changes in resource management”. Throughout the week, various meetings report on progress on many activities: the development of guidelines for integrating social and environmental considerations; competent person requirements; continuing work on renewable energy; anthropogenic resources; and the alignment of UNFC (the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources).

EFG is personnaly involved in different Working Groups, including the one on Competent Persons, reinforcing therefore the strong relation between EFG and UNECE. A relation that was highlighted by the chair of the Expert Group on Resource Classification (EGRC), David Mac Donald, in his opening session when he pointed out the conference on “International cooperation on raw materials” successfully organised by EFG and the UNECE in February 2017.
