The European Federation of Geologists (EFG) is launching an open call for Coordinators and Members of three newly established Working Groups on Natural Hazards, Radioactive Materials, and Soil Protection. This call follows the decision of the EFG Council held in Zaragoza in November 2025 to evolve its expert structures, replacing the former Panels of Experts with topic-oriented Working Groups designed to operate with greater flexibility, responsiveness, and cross-cutting collaboration.

The transition to Working Groups offers an excellent opportunity to refresh leadership, encourage innovation, and broaden participation across the EFG community. EFG is seeking motivated and committed individuals to help shape these thematic groups, ensuring alignment with EFG’s strategy and priorities.

Two types of roles are available:

Working Group Members are expected to:

    • Participate in Working Group meetings (one per quarter)
    • Contribute actively to Working Group activities in line with the annual work plan

Working Group Coordinators are expected to:

    • Coordinate Working Group activities and meetings
    • Provide strategic input and interact regularly with the EFG Board and Secretariat
    • Plan annual objectives and deliverables
    • Facilitate collaboration among members with diverse backgrounds
    • Benefit from a 20% discount on all EFG Academy courses for the duration of their mandate

This call is open to all qualified and motivated individuals and is not limited to holders of the EurGeol title. EFG strongly encourages diversity among applicants in terms of gender, age, geographical representation, and professional background. Previous experience within EFG or an EFG National Association is beneficial but not mandatory. The working language is English, and additional language skills are considered an asset.

To apply or submit a nomination, please send a Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter outlining the candidate’s experience, interest, and suitability for the Coordinator or Member role to the EFG Office at info.efg@eurogeologists.eu by 6 April 2026.
