SUMMARY:Exploration Geochemistry Course
DESCRIPTION:Description With practically all of the world’s near surface deposits being exposed\, future discoveries will need to be made in areas with extensive transported cover. Geologists will need to use the most up to date tools\, which include using geochemical exploration methods.  These two days of power point lectures will cover the topics of primary dispersion\, secondary dispersion\, sampling strategies\, seeing thru transported cover\, analytical methods\, quality control\, data analysis\, multi-elemental methods such as partial and selective leaches as well as field based soil pH techniques.  The course will also cover case studies from geochemical surveys in diverse physiographic and climatic environments from around the world. \nWho should attend This course is suitable for exploration geologists ranging from new graduates who will benefit from a presentation of the basic principles\, to more senior geologists who have an interest in developing their skills in applied geochemistry.  Past course participants have also included government geologists\, prospectors and mining engineers. \n Dave Heberlein has been involved in mineral exploration for the past 37 years.  He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Southampton\, England\, and an M.Sc.\, (Geology and Exploration Geochemistry) from the University of British Columbia.  He has world-wide experience in exploring for both precious and base metal deposits and has worked extensively in both North and South America\, Europe\, Africa and Australia. Prior to joining Barrick Gold Corp. in 1994\, he worked for a number of senior Mining companies.\nFrom 1995 to 2002\, he was Barrick’s Exploration Manager for Argentina and Chile.  In this role he managed exploration of the El Indio gold belt including the El Indio and Tambo mines and the giant Pascua Lama high sulphidation deposit.  After returning to Canada in 2002 he became Barrick’s Chief Geochemist for global exploration until he left the company in early 2007. SUMMARY:ENER-REV
DESCRIPTION:France is the second largest European economy and home of the Paris Agreement on climate change\, and is now a key European country in terms of renewable energy progress. With a mature onshore wind sector\, a fast-evolving solar market and a high potential in biomass and offshore wind\, the French renewable energy market presents a unique business opportunity for international companies and investors. \nThis year marks the renewal of the French legal energy roadmap\, the Programmation Pluriannuelle de l’Energie (PPE)\, establishing targets for the whole of the French energy industry for 2028. In a heavily regulated environment\, this legal document defines the potential of evolution for each of the renewable energy sectors in France.

SUMMARY:Potential and Limits of Geophysics for Mining Exploration
DESCRIPTION:Potential and Limits of Geophysics for Mining Exploration\n(5th Meggen Raw Material Days)\n\nSeptember 13\n\n\n\nEFG Endorsement Programme \n\n\n \nThe worldwide mining exploration demands high quality and cost-effective geophysical methods. Nowadays\, it is well understood that the application of one\ngeophysical technique\, only\, is rarely sufficient to identify new ore deposits especially for deep mining projects. Each additional geophysical method applied\,\nprogressively adds more information towards making the most important decision to drill-test targets. It is extremely necessary to improve the geological\ninterpretation of recorded geophysical data (anomalies) leading to a better understanding of the defined exploration targets. \nIn order to explore new deposits\, or to better understand operating mining areas\, Geophysicists can choose from a variety of different geophysical techniques\,\ndepending on the conditions of the deposit. Within this seminar\, potentials and especially the limits for a variety of geophysical techniques will be presented.\nFurthermore it will be shown\, in which way different methods can be combined for an easier and faster geological interpretation and for the generation of a better\ngeological model of the deposit. \nOBJECTIVES: \nThis workshop aims at geoscientist who evaluate resources and resource projects according to international standards and criteria. \nThe workshop is held in English and is recognized as training course for European Geologists. \nFEE FOR COURSE PARTICIPANTS: \n• Regular participation fee: 270\,- €\n• Reduced participation fee (EuroGeol\, BDG memebers): 216\,- €\n• Reduced participation fee (other discounts): 243\,- €\n\n\nREGISTRATION AND MORE INFORMATION:\nhttps://www.die-ba-bdg.de/2019/04/08/5-th-meggen-raw-material-days-11-13-september-2019/

SUMMARY:10th International Groundwater Quality Conference (GQ 2019)
DESCRIPTION:Between 1950 and 2050 the global population will have increased significantly\, from 2.5 to 10 billion inhabitants. The urban population is expected to be two thirds\, up from one third a century ago. The consequence is a greater urban spread into rural environments and increased pressure on natural resources\, including groundwater in these transition areas. The conference theme\, Groundwater quality in the transition between rural and urban environments\, will focus on the need to protect\, manage\, repair and sustain groundwater quality in these growing urbanized environments. \nThe conference will bring together researchers\, industry\, regulators\, contractors\, consultants\, planners and water supply agencies to address the important issues related to groundwater quality in this context.
