DESCRIPTION:This course\, endorsed by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG)\, will be organised as part of the 2026 Congress of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG 2026). The IAEG 2026 will take place in Delft (The Netherlands​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​) from 30 October to 6 November 2026. \nThe listed IAEG workshops on the EFG calendar are scheduled\, but additional workshops may be added and/or the existing ones may be slightly modified. \nIAEG 2026 Course #6: Geosynthetics for Sustainable Geotechnical and Engineering Geological Practice\nWHEN: \nSaturday 31 October or Sunday 1 November 2026 (Day To Be Confirmed). \nFull day – 9:00 to 16:00. \nINSTRUCTOR: \n\nDr Sanjay Kumar Shukla is a world-renowned expert in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering. He currently serves as the Civil Engineering Discipline Coordinator and Founding Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering Research Group Leader at Edith Cowan University\, Perth\, Australia. He holds Distinguished Professorships at several institutions\, including Delhi Technological University\, India\, and Southern Illinois University\, USA. He is a registered Chartered Professional Engineer in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering with Engineers Australia and an International Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering by the International Engineering Association.\n\nOVERVIEW: \nEngineering geology\, geotechnical engineering and geosynthetics together provide sustainable and resilient solutions for modern ground infrastructure. While engineering geology explains the behaviour of soils\, rocks and groundwater\, and geotechnical engineering applies this understanding to design and construction\, geosynthetics as engineered polymeric materials enhance ground performance through reinforcement\, drainage\, filtration\, separation and protection. Their integration offers cost-effective\, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible alternatives for civil\, mining\, agricultural and environmental applications. \nThis one-day course introduces the fundamentals of geosynthetic engineering within the framework of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering\, highlighting material types\, properties\, design concepts and field applications for sustainable and climate-resilient development. \nTARGET AUDIENCE: \nThis course is ideal for professionals and researchers involved in the specification\, analysis\, design\, construction\, and study of geosynthetic-related projects. SUMMARY:World Conference on Sampling and Blending (WCSB12)
DESCRIPTION:The WCSB12 theme is Sampling for a Sustainable World which aims to provide discussions on relevant issues across mining and minerals; raw materials and products; food and feed; medicine and pharma; recycling; and the environment. WCSB12 will seek to highlight as many fields as possible where proper sampling is performed in the service of sustainable science\, technology and industry\, the circular economy\, and mitigation of climate change. \nRepresentative sampling practice based on the Theory of Sampling (TOS) is key to many industrial applications. Efficient use of the Earths resources\, in its widest sense\, is a basis for developing sustainability in the context of UN Sustainable Development Goals SDG 12 and 13. \nWCSB12 will comprise Keynote presentations across key sampling applications\, supported by regular contributions. Pre- and/or post-conference workshops may be organised. \nWith thanks to the International Pierre Gy Sampling Association (IPGSA) \nAims of the Conference \nWCSB12 aims to bring together the diverse international sampling community to present and debate concepts and ideas for a standardised approach to sampling embodied in TOS. The opportunity to meet\, exchange ideas\, and share practical experiences will be a significant benefit for attendees. SUMMARY:38th International Geological Congress (IGC 2028)
DESCRIPTION:The International Geological Congress 2028 (IGC 2028) will be held in Calgary\, Canada\, from 12 to 20 August 2028. Often described as the “Olympics of Earth Sciences\,” the IGC is the premier global gathering for geoscientists\, taking place every four years. The 2028 edition\, the 38th congress\, is expected to welcome up to 10\,000 participants from around the world. \nUnder the theme “Geosciences for Humanity\,” the congress will address pressing global challenges including climate change\, natural hazards\, critical minerals\, and sustainable energy\, with a strong focus on Indigenous partnerships.
