SUMMARY:World Conference on Sampling and Blending (WCSB12)
DESCRIPTION:The WCSB12 theme is Sampling for a Sustainable World which aims to provide discussions on relevant issues across mining and minerals; raw materials and products; food and feed; medicine and pharma; recycling; and the environment. WCSB12 will seek to highlight as many fields as possible where proper sampling is performed in the service of sustainable science\, technology and industry\, the circular economy\, and mitigation of climate change. \nRepresentative sampling practice based on the Theory of Sampling (TOS) is key to many industrial applications. Efficient use of the Earths resources\, in its widest sense\, is a basis for developing sustainability in the context of UN Sustainable Development Goals SDG 12 and 13. \nWCSB12 will comprise Keynote presentations across key sampling applications\, supported by regular contributions. Pre- and/or post-conference workshops may be organised. \nWith thanks to the International Pierre Gy Sampling Association (IPGSA) \nAims of the Conference \nWCSB12 aims to bring together the diverse international sampling community to present and debate concepts and ideas for a standardised approach to sampling embodied in TOS. The opportunity to meet\, exchange ideas\, and share practical experiences will be a significant benefit for attendees. The Conference will provide understanding and insights for practitioners\, academics\, manufacturers and engineering firms aiming to achieve representative sampling through TOS. \nAttendees will find that the conference presents a mix of Theory and Practical (case studies) presentations; with the opportunity to network with a range of researchers and practitioners. \nConvenors \n\nDr Simon Dominy (Camborne School of Mines\, University of Exeter)\nProfessor Hylke Glass (Camborne School of Mines\, University of Exeter)

DESCRIPTION:The International Congress on Geomathematics in Earth & Environmental Sciences (GeoMATES 2027) will be held in Budapest\, Hungary\, from 19 to 21 May 2027. \nThis congress brings together researchers\, practitioners\, and academics to explore the application of mathematical\, statistical\, and computational methods to challenges in earth systems\, environmental sciences\, and geosciences. GeoMATES provides a forum for the presentation of innovative modelling techniques\, quantitative analysis\, and interdisciplinary approaches that deepen our understanding of geological and environmental processes. \nAs a supporting organisation\, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) recognises the value of this event in fostering scientific exchange and advancing quantitative geoscience research.

SUMMARY:38th International Geological Congress (IGC 2028)
DESCRIPTION:The International Geological Congress 2028 (IGC 2028) will be held in Calgary\, Canada\, from 12 to 20 August 2028. Often described as the “Olympics of Earth Sciences\,” the IGC is the premier global gathering for geoscientists\, taking place every four years. The 2028 edition\, the 38th congress\, is expected to welcome up to 10\,000 participants from around the world. \nUnder the theme “Geosciences for Humanity\,” the congress will address pressing global challenges including climate change\, natural hazards\, critical minerals\, and sustainable energy\, with a strong focus on Indigenous partnerships. The programme will include more than 50 field trips and scientific sessions exploring Canada’s geologically rich landscapes. \nThe European Federation of Geologists is proud to participate as a supporting organisation and looks forward to helping connect the European geoscience community with this landmark event.
