DESCRIPTION:Water and the Environment have an increased impact in the European Union. According to a new Eurobarometer survey (Special Survey 416 from September 2014)\, almost all Europeans say that protecting the environment is important to them personally\, and over half say it is very important. Half or more of Europeans say that they are worried about air pollution and water pollution\, while over four in ten are worried about the impact on health from chemicals in everyday products and the growing amount of waste.  Over three-quarters of respondents feel that environmental problems have a direct effect on their daily lives. An understanding of legal basis\, context and decision-taking mechanisms are thus of increasing importance for policy makers and planners at all levels. \nThis seminar will give you  a general overview of the EU water policy. Whilst in the past univariate anomaly detection along with a thorough analysis of ore element assemblages were considered routine interpretation workflows\, affordable trace element geochemistry now provides the necessary tools to interpret bedrock geology\, mineralisation systems and further applications in mining and mineral processing. \nMost governmental geological surveys make regional geochemical datasets available which are of invaluable use to exploration geologists. DESCRIPTION:Geothermal Energy- from Potential to Implementation \nRenewables are seen as the future source of energy to meet the world’s growing demand\, with geothermal resources offering a constant and independent supply. \n\nThere is a growing need for interdisciplinary competence to untap the vast geothermal potential worldwide\, with a high level of skills’ transferability across geo-resource sectors\, including oil and gas. \n\n\nThis three day course is presented through a mixture of lectures\, tutorials and discussion of case studies. DESCRIPTION:10 years after the 2008 Movri Men Earthquake; An earthquake increasing our knowledge for the deformation in a foreland area\nThis workshop is the 2nd of a recent series of scientific meetings organized by the Tectonics Committee of the Geological Society of Greece aiming to shed light on tectonic processes related with the active deformation in different levels of the crust of western Greece such as landscape evolution\, seismicity\, near field geodesy and their significance for hazard assessment and oil prospect. The workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present their latest work on evaluating the impact of the active deformation on the society as well as to highlight innovative applications and research outcomes. Students of geology or related disciplines are welcome to the workshop.\nWe invite original or review contributions on structural geology\, geomorphology\, seismicity\, crustal deformation (GNSS and InSAR)\, natural hazards that discuss the topics in term of concepts\, state of the art\, research\, standards\, running experiments\, and applications in similar areas.
