SUMMARY:19th Congress of Geologists of Serbia
DESCRIPTION:The 19th Serbian Geological Congress will be held at Bor Lake\, in Hotel Jezero\, from 3-6 June 2026\, organised by the EFG National Association Serbian Geological Society and the Faculty of Mining and Geology\, University of Belgrade\, under the slogan “Geology for Sustainable Solutions.” \nThe Congress continues a long-standing tradition of bringing together experts from geology and related disciplines to exchange knowledge and experience and to promote modern approaches to geological research and application. The program will include a plenary session\, scientific and professional sessions\, panel discussions or round tables\, workshops\, a photo exhibition (based on a photo competition)\, a congress excursion\, and other accompanying activities. Special emphasis will be placed on supporting young researchers and enhancing the public visibility of the geological profession. \nMembers of the Serbian Geological Society who have paid their membership fees for the past two years are entitled to additional registration fee discounts\, provided they complete early registration for the Congress. More information can be found on the official website of the 19th Serbian Geological Congress. \nFor any questions regarding the Congress\, please contact us at 19kongres@sgd.rs. \nThe Congress website is currently under development and will be continuously updated with new content.

SUMMARY:LearnGeo 26: Learn Geoscience. Lead Change. Light the Way
DESCRIPTION:Geoscience Week 2026 – Pau\, France – 16–18 June 2026\n  \nIn June 2026\, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG)\, the Société Géologique de France (SGF)\, and AVENIA\, France’s competitiveness cluster for subsurface industries\, will jointly organise the Geoscience Week 2026 in Pau\, south of France. \nThis unique European initiative will highlight the strategic role of geosciences and the subsurface in addressing today’s major societal challenges and supporting the energy and environmental transitions. \n  \n\n\n\n\nA Full Week Dedicated to Geosciences\n  \nThe Geoscience Week will bring together two complementary events: \nGeodays (16–17 June 2026): Organised by AVENIA\, the Geodays are a leading business yearly convention for the subsurface sector\, gathering the French and European geoscience community\, including industry leaders\, researchers\, public authorities\, and decision-makers. The event focuses on innovation\, collaboration\, and the valorisation of subsurface resources. \nLearnGeo – Education & Careers in Geosciences (17–18 June 2026): This 2026 edition will target all education professionals who play a role in helping secondary school and university students choose their future study options. The 2028 edition will directly address pupils themselves. \nIn 2026\, LearnGeo is specifically designed for: \n\nYouth Career advisors\nSecondary school teachers and representatives of secondary school teacher organisations\nEducators involved in guidance and orientation\nBachelor\, Master or PhD students interested in careers in applied geosciences\n\nThe aim is to strengthen understanding of: \n\nThe societal relevance of geosciences\nThe diversity of careers in this strategic field\nThe opportunities geosciences offer to young people today and in the future\n\nThe main event language will be French\, but we welcome the participation of educators\, career advisors\, company representatives or students from outside France. \n\n\n\nProgramme Highlights\n\n\n\nWednesday\, 17 June 2026: Joint closing–opening cocktail\n\nA joint cocktail with keynote speeches marking the closure of the Geodays and the opening of LearnGeo.\nPossibility for educators\, teachers and students to meet company representatives in the Geodays exhibition area.\n\n\nThursday\, 18 June 2026\, 10:00-18:00: LearnGeo 2026\n\nPlenary talks on geoscience careers: Presentations by professionals who work daily in geoscience-related fields\, sharing real-life perspectives on careers\, skills\, and pathways.\nMeet-the-industry moments: Opportunities to interact with company representatives and better understand workforce needs and emerging professions.\nWorkshops: Thematic workshops addressing the importance of geoscience for society.\n\n\nWhy Geosciences Matter\n  \nEnergy systems\, access to water\, critical metals and materials\, underground storage\, and protection against natural and anthropogenic risks: geosciences are at the heart of the innovations required for the energy and ecological transition\, the reindustrialisation of territories\, and the strengthening of European sovereignty. \nThey form the foundation for a new industrial and societal pathway – closely connected to territories and citizens.
