SUMMARY:Annual Scientific Conference with international participation GEOSCIENCES 2026
DESCRIPTION:The GEOSCIENCES 2026 Scientific Conference will take place on 10–11 December 2026 in Sofia\, Bulgaria\, bringing together members of the geological community for two days of scientific exchange and discussion. The conference is organised by the Bulgarian Geological Society together with Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and several leading Bulgarian geological and academic institutions. \nThis year’s conference is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Academician Georgi Bonchev (1866–1955)\, one of the founders of mineralogy and petrography in Bulgaria and the first president of the Bulgarian Geological Society. \nThe scientific programme will cover a broad range of geoscience disciplines\, including mineralogy\, geochemistry and petrology\, regional geology and geophysics\, mineral and energy resources\, environmental geology and natural hazards\, hydrogeology\, geomorphology\, geological heritage and geoarchaeology. \nThe organisers particularly encourage the participation of young researchers\, postgraduate and graduate students\, with awards foreseen for the best presentations by young participants. SUMMARY:38th International Geological Congress (IGC 2028)
DESCRIPTION:The International Geological Congress 2028 (IGC 2028) will be held in Calgary\, Canada\, from 12 to 20 August 2028. Often described as the “Olympics of Earth Sciences\,” the IGC is the premier global gathering for geoscientists\, taking place every four years. The 2028 edition\, the 38th congress\, is expected to welcome up to 10\,000 participants from around the world. \nUnder the theme “Geosciences for Humanity\,” the congress will address pressing global challenges including climate change\, natural hazards\, critical minerals\, and sustainable energy\, with a strong focus on Indigenous partnerships. The programme will include more than 50 field trips and scientific sessions exploring Canada’s geologically rich landscapes. \nThe European Federation of Geologists is proud to participate as a supporting organisation and looks forward to helping connect the European geoscience community with this landmark event.
