SUMMARY:CRM-geothermal Final Conference at GeoTHERM
DESCRIPTION:The CRM-Geothermal Final Conference will take place in person on 25 February 2026\, from 13:00 to 17:00 CET in Offenburg\, Germany\, organised in cooperation with GeoTHERM 2026: https://www.geotherm-offenburg.de/en \nParticipation is free and does not require a GeoTHERM event badge. \nThe conference is scheduled one day before GeoTHERM (26–27 February 2026) and concludes in time for participants to join the traditional GeoTHERM Ice-Breaker at 18:30 on 25 February 2026. Please note that participation in the Ice-Breaker is not included with registration for the CRM-Geothermal Final Conference. \nThis final project conference will showcase the main findings of the EU-funded CRM-geothermal project\, with presentations by consortium partners and invited experts. The programme is structured into three thematic sessions: \n\nSession 1: Content\, origin\, and mobility of Critical Raw Materials (CRM) in geothermal fluids across different geological settings\nSession 2: Extraction methods for CRM from geothermal fluids\nSession 3: Economic\, social\, and governance aspects of CRM co-production\n\n\nAbout the CRM-geothermal Project\nThe CRM-geothermal project applies a holistic approach to evaluating and extracting Critical Raw Materials (CRM) from geothermal fluids in Europe and East Africa. Its work bridges geoscience\, technology\, and sustainability to strengthen Europe’s raw materials independence. \nKey project achievements include: \n-1. Assessment of CRM potential: A comprehensive database and a Fluid Atlas were developed to visualise the distribution of critical raw materials in geothermal fluids. \n-2. Understanding geological processes: The origin and mobilisation of CRMs were studied across diverse geological settings – such as crystalline fractured rocks and deep sedimentary basins with high-salinity fluids – to assess their occurrence and long-term extraction potential. \n-3. Innovative extraction technologies: New methods were developed for extracting CRMs such as lithium\, strontium\, and helium from different types of geothermal fluids. \n-4. Socio-economic and environmental assessment: The project evaluated economic\, social\, and environmental dimensions of CRM co-production. \n-5. Demonstration of feasibility: The co-extraction of CRMs was successfully demonstrated at a pilot site in Cornwall (UK). \nRegister for the conference here: https://crm-geothermal.eu/go/crm-geothermal-final-conference-geotherm

SUMMARY:GeoTHERM 2026
DESCRIPTION:The European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and GeoTHERM 2026 have signed a partnership agreement to strengthen the connection between the professional geological community and the geothermal energy sector. \nGeoTHERM is the largest trade fair and congress for geothermal energy in Europe. Taking place at the Offenburg Exhibition Centre in Germany on 26 and 27 February 2026\, the event brings together international experts\, companies\, and decision-makers from the fields of shallow and deep geothermal energy. It serves as a unique platform for exchange\, knowledge transfer\, and innovation in the transition to renewable energies. \nThe new partnership establishes a framework for mutual support and active participation during the upcoming event. EFG will host a booth in the exhibition area to engage with the community\, and an EFG Board member will deliver a welcome speech during the conference opening. Furthermore\, Janos Szanyi\, Coordinator of the EFG Panel of Experts on Geothermal Energy\, has been appointed to the event’s scientific committee. \nEFG is also co-organising the final conference of the CRM-geothermal EU-funded project connected to GeoTHERM. This side event will take place on 25 February 2026\, one day prior to the main trade fair. Find more information about this event and register here! \nAs part of this agreement\, members of the EFG community are eligible for a 7 EUR discount on tickets purchased via the online shop. (Note: This discount does not apply to student tickets) \nHow to Apply: To obtain the discount code\, please contact the EFG office via our contact form: https://eurogeologists.eu/contact

SUMMARY:Webinar: From Geothermal Conceptual Model to Reservoir Scenarios (Leapfrog → Volsung)
DESCRIPTION:On 17 March 2026\, from 14:00 to 14:45 CET\, the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and Seequent\, as part of their strategic collaboration\, are organising a webinar titled ‘From Geothermal Conceptual Model to Reservoir Scenarios (Leapfrog → Volsung)‘. \nA defensible subsurface model is essential for any geothermal project. Moving beyond simple heat maps\, this webinar introduces an integrated workflow that connects 3D conceptual modelling in Leapfrog with reservoir scenario evaluation in Volsung. \nWe will explore how a conceptual model can be transferred into Volsung to test a base case and a range of sensitivities\, helping teams understand key drivers such as permeability architecture\, boundaries\, and reinjection strategy. The session focuses on producing decision‑ready outputs that clearly communicate assumptions and uncertainty. \nWHAT WE WILL COVER: \n\nWhy geothermal assessments require a robust\, defensible subsurface model\nHow Leapfrog supports clear 3D conceptualisation of geothermal systems\nHow Volsung evaluates reservoir scenarios and operational strategies\nHow to compare base cases and sensitivities to understand uncertainty\nHow to present results that support confident technical decisions\n\n\n\n\n  \nAGENDA: \n\n\n14:00 – Live presentation by Dr. Esteban Gómez‑Díaz: Showing how Seequent tools are applied in geothermal projects \n14:25 – Interactive Q&A Session \nREGISTRATION: \nFree registration: https://eurogeologists.eu/go/webinar-26-03-geothermal-leapfrog-volsung
