SUMMARY:EAGE Annual Conference Online
DESCRIPTION:The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) will hold its 2020 annual conference online from 8 to 11 December. The virtual programme will focus on leveraging the strength of EAGE’s global community to chart new paths for sustainable energy development and continued interest in geosciences. \nAs a partner association of EAGE\, EFG has negotiated a special price for National Association members and European Geologist title holders who would like to attend the event. EFG members can register at the same price as EAGE Green members which corresponds to a discount of approximately 10% compared to the standard registration fee for non-members. \nTo benefit from this offer\, please use the following dedicated registration link for EFG members: \nhttps://eage.eventsair.com/annual-conference-online/efg-affreg/Site/Register \nPlease note that it is necessary to create an EAGE account to start the registration process. This is free and does not require EAGE membership. \nhttps://bit.ly/3frGQiW

SUMMARY:CCUS 2020 Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Carbon Capture and Storage Association is delighted to invite you to join them for their flagship conference on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd December 2020. \nCCUS 2020 is the meeting place for anyone involved in carbon capture\, usage and storage. The development of CCUS is critical to reaching net zero goals and it is also increasingly recognised as an important contributor to the UK Government’s “levelling up” agenda and the goal of building back greener and stronger. With the UK hosting COP26 in 2021\, the conference gives us an opportunity to build on the UK’s ambition of becoming a leader in this essential technology and a chance to hear international voices and experiences. \nThe conference will take place online and is free to attend.

SUMMARY:AGU Fall meeting
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is new to this year’s Fall Meeting because it’s the first one that’s 100% online. From the design\, time zones\, technology and privacy and security details\, there was a collective effort to creating our #AGU20 virtual experience. Success depends on having the full meeting content available\, session chairs and presenters helping lead discussions\, and on everyone being more proactive and flexible in engaging with colleagues around the world.

SUMMARY:GET2020 - 1st EAGE Geoscience in Energy Transition Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 1st Geoscience & Engineering in Energy Transition Conference (GET) will address what skills and what technologies are required to support the growth of renewable energy in the energy mix. Furthermore\, it gives a forum to exchange the knowledge about CCS\, energy storage and cross disciplines like hazardous (nuclear) waste storage\, hydrogen/methane production and storage\, geochemistry applications\, risk and environmental impact analysis\, offshore wind energy (turbine placement\, engineering challenges\, re-use of O&G platforms)\, etc. \nThe conference is cross-disciplinary by design. The audience will be composed by geoscientists and engineers working on all subsurface usages\, either relevant to energy transition (geothermal and storage) or more traditional resource exploitation; representatives of universities and research institutions\, geological surveys\, local and national authorities and regulators\, petroleum operators and energy utilities\, field service and consulting firms are offered a platform to exchange views and experience. \nGeoscientifical disciplines will be addressed together with knowledge management\, social aspects\, financing\, governance and policy\, and participation from all of these fields is encouraged for the success of the conference.

SUMMARY:IEAGHG Webinar: Value of Emerging and Enabling Technologies in Reducing Costs\, Risks & Timescales for CCS
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will look at the recent IEAGHG study on the Value of Emerging and Enabling Technologies in Reducing Costs\, Risks & Timescales for CCS (report number 2020-05\, published July 2020 and contracted out to Element Energy). This work was a horizon scanning exercise aiming to understand the relevance of digital and enabling technologies for CCS and assess what benefits these technologies could offer to the large-scale deployment of CCS. Current R&D into the reduction of costs\, risks\, timescales and challenges in CCS primarily focusses on conventional improvement methods; emerging and enabling technologies have the potential to offer more opportunities for cost and risk reduction.

SUMMARY:MOOC on Climate Change: Carbon Capture and Storage
DESCRIPTION:The atmosphere is a shared resource and the amount of greenhouse gases it can absorb is a finite resource. This introductory course to the technology of Carbon Capture and Storage is designed for a wider audience with an interest in energy\, sustainability and climate change. \nThe aim of Carbon Capture and Storage is to achieve \n\nDeep reductions in carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere\nUnlock carbon negative solutions to achieve a neutral carbon balance to the atmosphere in the 21st century\n\nCarbon Capture and Storage makes cheap\, widely available fossil fuels ‘safe to use’ in the context of the Paris Climate Change agreement of 2015. It prevents their carbon dioxide emissions from entering the atmosphere to store them permanently and safely underground. \nThe course is taught by a team of leading academics at the University of Edinburgh with decades of experience in this field. It aims to bridge the gap between the forefront of the latest developments in science\, engineering\, geology\, policy and economics\, and the wider public.

SUMMARY:vEGU21: Gather Online
DESCRIPTION:EGU General Assembly 2021 to be held virtually\nThis virtual event will be an entirely different experience from last year’s meeting\, Sharing Geoscience Online\, which we had just five weeks to plan. vEGU21 will provide a much more complete representation of the experience that EGU members enjoy at the annual meeting in Vienna. \nvEGU21\, which will be accessible from around the globe\, will feature the 2020 and 2021 awards ceremonies and lectures\, mentoring\, networking events\, and many more activities in addition to nearly 700 scientific sessions. The current plan is to extend the meeting dates to 19–30 April but to schedule all technical sessions during the last week of April. \nWith this announcement\, EGU and its conference partner\, Copernicus Meetings\, are opening the meeting’s call for abstracts on 3 November 2020. These will be accepted until 13 January 2021 at 13:00 CET. The Abstract Processing Charge (APC) will remain the same as in previous years.

SUMMARY:Near Surface Geoscience 2017
DESCRIPTION:The SES conference series is a relatively new initiative and aims to bring together geoscientists working in CO2 storage\, geothermal applications\, deep earth storage solutions and related topics. To meet the challenges of present and future energy demand\, the geosciences play an increasingly important role in the sustainable use of the Earth and its resources and in the conservation of our environment. Numerous technologies (storage of gases\, geothermal\, waste disposal\, oil & gas\, mining\, etc.) use the subsurface – sometimes in synergy\, sometimes in competition. SES 2017 seeks to address these challenges and promotes the development of applied geoscience and technology with regard to sustainable use of the Earth and its limited resources.
