EuroWorkshops are a platform to support the continuous professional development (CPD) for geologists worldwide and specifically in Europe, that the EFG proposes to European Geologist title holders and all other geoscientists. These activities will intensify the professional exchange of ideas and the contacts between geologists from all over Europe and will also strengthen the context in which we work within the EFG family.
Introduction
The Portuguese Association of Geologists (APG), the European Federation of Geologists (EFG), the Platform for Atlantic Geohazard Risk Management (AGEO), the Geopark Azores, and the REFLECT and CROWTHERMAL projects (EU-funded projects) will jointly organise the EuroWorkshop Natural Hazards, Geothermal and Geological Heritage: Expressions of Geodiversity between 19-25 May 2022 in Azores, Portugal.
The 80th EFG Council meeting will be held on 20-22 May, 2022 also in Azores (for EFG delegates only).
See you in Azores next Spring!

About Azores
The Azores Autonomous Region has an area of 2324 sq. km. It is located at the Atlantic Triple Junction, where the boundaries of three tectonic plates intersect: the North American Plate, the Eurasian Plate and the African Plate. This triple junction is located along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Despite the small size of the Azorean territory, the islands have a wide range of landscapes, forms and structures derived from the types of eruption, its dynamics and the subsequent actions of weathering.
Due to its tectonic and volcanic environment, the Azores region is affected by most of all natural hazards, namely, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, floods, coastal erosion, etc.
Capelinhos Eruption, Faial Island
Geothermal is strategic for the energy self-sufficiency of the Azores Archipelago and has become the most important source of renewable energy in the Azores.
