It’s in the first letter. E. for European. EFG‘s identity is deeply European, and so is it’s main mission: strengthening the bond among the European family of Geologists. It was therefore only a matter of time before the Federation would move its legal seat to Brussels, capital of Europe, where the physical offices already are.
Since 14th September and signature of the legal act by both EFG’s President, Vitor Correia, and EFG’s Executive Director, Isabel Fernandez, the Federation is thus officially a Belgian AISBL* . And deeper than ever in the heart of Europe.
*AISBL is the legal term used in Belgium for an internationally acting not-for-profit association based on Belgian law and located in Belgium. A not-for-profit association is an organization that has been formed by a group of people in order “to pursue a common not-for-profit goal”, taht is, to pursure a stated goal without the intention of distributing excess revenue to members or leaders.
