4th Meggen Raw Materials Days – International Geologists Conference of the BDG in the Galileo-Park / Lennestadt-Meggen
From 12 to 14 September 2018, the fourth Meggener Raw Materials Days are organised by EFG’s German national association, the BDG (Berufsverband Deutscher Geoscientist e.V.) in the Galileo Park in Lennestadt-Meggen. Numerous geologists and geoscientists from Denmark, Germany, England, France, Nigeria, Austria, the Philippines, Portugal and Switzerland are following the invitation again this year. For the participants, a training seminar will be offered on the first day to ensure the required professional development.
The seminar is an official seminar of the UNECE in Geneva and a EuroWorkshop of the European Federation of Geologists (EFG). It is dedicated to securing, evaluating and managing the supply of raw materials at a national and international level.
On the first day of the conference, the topic of the seminar will be taken up again and continued. Essential here is the international raw material policy and the financing of commodity projects, as well as the valuation of raw material inventories.
The second day of the conference will focus more on resources in Central Europe with examples from Germany, Austria and France as well as methods for exploring these occurrences.
“Geology as the basis of raw materials affects all people, especially in an increasingly globalized world. Germany and Central Europe as relatively resource-poor countries today are particularly addressed. Even though the 4th Meggener Raw Materials Days will be a mere specialist congress for experts, in Lennestadt future issues will be discussed, which ultimately affect every household,” explains Michael Neumann, Press Officer of the BDG.
